OUR SUPPORT

At the Hub, we strive to ensure all students, regardless of age or ability, are supported to achieve the most from their time with us.

For Years 7 to 10, we provide attentive support with homework tasks, helping them to fulfil their goals and to feel positive about their achievements. With minimal distractions (other than the biscuit box being handed around!), students generally complete their homework to a high standard and at a good pace.

In recent progress reports, it was found that students who attend once every week to the Hub make, on average, better progress than the rest of their year group.

For Year 11, the Hub is a calm and relaxing environment where they can complete coursework and homework with minimal distractions or fuss. They have exclusive use of the Hub every Thursday, where they can complete coursework catchup and exam revision.

Our referral system

On occassions, teachers will refer individual students to the Hub for support. This may be due to the student being behind with homework or coursework tasks.

In these scenarios, a regular day and time after school is arranged with both the student and parent. This is not to punish a student, but to provide a supportive network and to help the student get back on track without falling further behind.

All referred students' progress is monitored and reported back to teachers and parents (if desired).

What subjects can be supported at the Hub?

The short answer: almost all subjects!

Because of the facilities available at the Learning Hub (good computers, large work tables, artistic resources, new revision guides etc.) we can cater for a wide range of subjects. If a student is needing specialised support for a GCSE or BTEC subject, we can arrange specialised support from our knowledgeable subject teachers from around the school.
